# Sandbox

> Build and test an integration against synthetic data, without spending credits.

The sandbox serves the same API as production with synthetic data, and nothing is billed. Use it to build and test an integration before you spend credits.

```
https://sandbox.api.syrto.ai
```

## How it works

* **Same key, same endpoints.** Authenticate with your usual API key. The sandbox offers exactly the endpoints your account offers in production, with the same paths, parameters, response shapes, error codes and rate limits. It serves your OpenAPI schema at `/openapi.json` and `/openapi.yaml`, like production.
* **Synthetic data.** No real company data is reachable. Every valid tax id resolves to a made-up company, and the same request always returns the same answer. Figures are random within their type and are not meant to be realistic or consistent with each other.
* **Not found.** The tax id `00000000000` is never found, so you can test your handling of missing companies: a `404` on single-company endpoints, a `notFound` entry on batch endpoints.
* **Usage.** `meta.usage` still reports what the call would have cost in production, but nothing is recorded against your balance.
* **No forecasts.** Only filed years are returned: the last five, ending with last year.

## Example

```bash theme={null}
curl -H "Authorization: Bearer $SYRTO_API_KEY" \
  https://sandbox.api.syrto.ai/companies/01654010345/overview
```

Switch to production by changing the base URL to `https://api.syrto.ai`. Nothing else in your integration needs to change.
